Grow and feed your favorite succulents with Miracle-Gro® Cactus, Palm & Citrus Potting Mix. This succulent and cactus soil mix is enriched with Miracle-Gro® Plant Food and features a fast-draining formula. Get beautiful, colorful results with this mixture of forest products, sphagnum peat moss, sand, and perlite. To use, start with a pot with a drain hole and fill 1/3 full with soil. Place the root ball of your plant in the soil and add more mix. Press lightly; water the plant and let drain. Let the soil dry to the touch between waterings. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great! Meets my needs! I am a repeat buyer of this product. I use it for practically anything that requires a well draining soil. The only thing I would recommend is that an indoor/outdoor use indication be put on the bag for those who do not know. Anyone who says this product is not well-draining is probably overwatering their plants!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too many mushrooms I bought a bag of the MG cactus mix a couple months ago and started a few Christmas cactus plants. Retains moisture yet drains well but, I have never seen so many mushrooms in a potting soil mix. A disappointing surprise. I’m spending too much time picking mushrooms

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cactus Soil Bags Stored Improperly -Soil Ruined I've been raising Desert Roses (hundreds of them) for the past 3 years. DRs require fast-draining soil so I've been potting them in Miracle-Gro Cactus, Palm & Citrus soil. However, I found that upon opening, approximately half of the bags contained moist, or downright wet, soil. When I first noticed this, I thought Miracle-Gro was mistakenly putting the wrong soil in the bags, but I figured it would eventually dry out and I continued using the soil. I was wrong. The soil is SOUR and it never dries out. I've probably lost 15 or 20 Desert Roses so far due to root rot, and I've spent the past six months or so repotting every single plant that doesn't register "DRY" on the soil moisture meter. Initially I was buying all of the cactus soil exclusively from one of the big-box home improvement stores, until one day when I noticed one of the Cactus soil bags was actually dripping water on my leg as I stood in the checkout line. It turns out that the store routinely stacks these bags on shelves underneath their potted plants. The bags have numerous small perforations on each side, and each time the potted plants get watered, the bags are drenched. I then started buying bags that were stored on the shelves along the wall (not under potted plants) but still ran into the same issue with roughly half the bags I purchased. I assume they rotate the locations of these bags, and some of the ones on the high shelves probably spent some time getting soaked under the plants. For the past six months I've been driving across town to a competing home improvement store and buying only bags that were not stored under their plants. Initially I had better luck, but that's all it was, "luck." The same issue exists at that store, and just last week, 2 of the 4 bags of soil that I bought there registered "MOIST" on the meter. As a last resort, two days ago I tried another store from a small, well-known chain, where I bought two bags. Unfortunately, BOTH bags contained portions of soil registering as "MOIST.' I‘ve spoken with numerous employees at both of the larger stores regarding this issue and have asked them to stop storing the bags underneath the plants, but nothing has changed. Needless to say, I'm very upset. The cactus soil should be BONE DRY. I've lost numerous Desert Roses that I've raised from seed, and I've spent hundreds of dollars on soil that is unusable. I came to this site thinking I could buy the soil directly from Miracle-Gro, but now I suspect it would be shipped from a local retailer and I would run into the same exact situation. I'm going to look for a different brand of cactus soil, but I do want to make Miracle-Gro aware of the situation. You should ask ALL of your retailers to stop storing your bags of soil beneath potted plants or near any other water sources. I don't know if the soil moisture is only due to the poor storage practices at these retail locations, or if there's also a quality control issue at Miracle-Gro, but your company does need to be aware that there IS an issue. I see others who have left comments here that have had similar concerns. I can tell you that when the soil is working as expected, it is bone dry and it does drain quickly (here in Florida).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do Not Buy I bought this mix to repot my succulents, but it looks like your regular potting mix without the nutrients (NPK 6-2-4). Additionally, it is too heavy for succulents---I had to add bark and perlite to get a mix that would drain adequately. Please fix this or take it off the market. This is not a good product for succulents and I won't be purchasing it again--it was a waste of money. I'll dump my remaining bags in the garden and add amendments.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad soil! I have had a Mayer lemon tree and three other citrus plants/trees now for about six years. We would take them outside in the spring and summer and even into the fall when the weather permits. This year it was time to pot up again. We have never used miracle gro potting soil for citrus before. I should have read the reviews but we were at Lowe’s and I didn’t think to so and I purchased 10 8qt bags they had none bigger. So we went home and potted the Mayer lemon tree up. By the time we got done it was late in the day.So we would get to the rest the following weekend. But as the week went on we noticed that the tree wasn’t looking well. So we gave it another week and it was looking worse. By the third week we thought it was dead. We did everything for it. Finally the light bulb went off we took the tree out of the pot and soaked the roots slowly to get all of the soil off of it and we repotted it with Fox Farm potting soil and nothing more. It took less then two weeks and not only did it come back to life we started to get new growth. When we compare the two of the soils together I don’t know what I was thinking. We donated the rest of the soil to a local neighborhood garden. I am a member of the Pennsylvania horticultural society so I knew where I could take it but informed what had happened to us. Nevertheless it’s back and doing very well. Now I use micacle gro tree and shrub soil and I love it and my fruit trees look happy and we’ll see what happens after this winter. But the citrus soil I will never use again and

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The soil composition has changed. Do not buy I purchase a bag of Cactus soil about a month ago. I've already seen damage to multiple plants because this is no longer Cactus soil. As others have mentioned, there is no perlite or bark pieces, and the soil now remains and stays very moist. I've purposely left open the bag now for 2 weeks and it will not dry out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Take this killing product off the market! I have a family Christmas cactus that is about seventy years old and has always flourished well. Periodically, I would add small amounts of regular potting soil to replenish nutrients. I tried your Cactus, Palm & Citrus potting mix, thinking it would even be better, with disastrous results. Now almost this entire precious plant is wilting badly. I feel that your product has poisoned my special family heirloom. You should take this product off the market before you do more damage. I have always been satisfied with your other products. Please suggest an antidote or treatment to correct the issue and save my plant.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lacking grit! I bought this soil for some succulents but when I opened the bag I was surprised to see it’s basically just potting soil with a tiny bit of sand. I ended up having to add in a lot of perlite and rocks for grit. It does not drain well enough for succulents or cacti as is out of the bag.
