Best seed starting mix I have encountered yet
I very much recommend this product because even though it is expensive (really not because I get a discount at a hardware store) It is not overpriced at all (at Reg price) I do believe this is the fastest time I have ever gotten Four o clocks To germinate ever The peat moss keeps the soil at an Ideal temp (not just for four o clocks) plus I believe the perlite acts as a slow release fertilizer not totally sure what it's for I would recommend this no doubt even if you have less than 6 months of experience because all you do is put mix in the mix in the pot water in use a pencil to make a hole plop the seeds in the hole and fill the hole back in water in and your good to go!

Outstanding results.
I was starting some Cherokee Purple tomato seeds in Jiffy mix and ran out. I went to the store and bought Miracle Grow and started the rest of the seeds three days later. The later planted seeds outpaced the ones in Jiffy and left them looking stunted and puny. The seeds sprouted in Miracle Grow Starting Mix grew so fast that I had to hustle and get them in bigger pots.

if you want your seeds to pop!
I love this stuff. Its my go to soil in the spring! I plant all my seeds indoors with the seed starter mix then i transfer them after the last frost in the regular miracle grow with some blood meal and the other nutrients they make. I get healthy flavorful fruits and veggies every year!

Good product for starting seeds
It is true that you need to wet the mix before planting the seed (per directions), but even when I've neglected to do so I've still been able to keep the soil moist by watering from below (which is better for the seed anyway). I start my seeds in recycled plant containers in plastic bins so I can keep sufficient water available for the mix to soak up and be thoroughly wet. I have reliable results with this product and have used it for several years.

Best for planting seeds
When I use Miracle-Gro Seed Starting Potting Soil, I have excellent results.
In the past, I've used other seed starting potting soil and the results have never been as good.

Greater success on seeds and seedlings
I like to grow flowers from seeds or seedlings planted in spring for summer enjoyment. Miracle-Gro Seed Start Potting Mix has the ingredients to give a good start to these for enjoyment throughout the summer and early fall.

You shoud see my red peppers
I'm not the best gardener, but Miracle Grow has helped me out. I've been growing red peppers and basil since last summer from seeds and their are still peppers on my plants. By the way, the pepper seeds were from peppers I bought from the store, which I dried myself. I just bought Italian parsley, sage and oregano seeds which I'm going to plant tomorrow. I have am sure they will flourish like my peppers. I can't wait.

has excellent water retention
For starters learn how to use something before you mislead others. With a little research you will be more than happy with the results of this seed start mix! I am a first time user trying to start my own veggie and flower seedlings and will never use any other medium to start my plants! I am extremely impressed how well my plants are growing under simple shop lights. Its time to pot up and I will definitely be buying more if this mix!

Great for beginners
I discovered this soil mix last year. I use it for Winter sowing and love , love , love the results. 90-95% germination rate with new seeds and 85 % with my older seeds. Works great in the seedling starter trays too. I never use peat pots now, just this stuff. I love it.

save money start your own plants from seeds with miracle grow!
it seems miracle grow seed starting mix is almost guaranteed!
seed germinate quickly plants are strong and cost only pennies a plant for garden veggies . i've tried top contenders from other companies and had horrible results even ending up with muffa as my wife calls it , white mold over the soil and plants , the company refunded money but thats not the point i started seeds in feb. and 90% died ! went back to miracle grow in march and my tomatoes are now 6 feet high!

Give Your Seeds A Helping Hand...
I live in Northern Idaho and our planting season is very short, especially if using seeds. This year I decided to plant a Hummingbird and Butterfly Wild Flower seed mix. To prepare the soil, I started with a base of the seed starting potting mix, even though it is an outside flower garden. Then, I scattered the seed and topped with the Miracle Gro Moisture Control garden soil. We've had rainy and cold temperatures since I've planted my seeds. Despite Mother Nature, my seeds are sprouting and looking healthy. Thanks Miracle Gro!

So far so good!
Since it is late to really plant anything from seed, I only took some marigold seeds from my existing plants and planted them . So far so good! They germinated pretty quick, I liked the texture of the soil. I will save the rest of the soil for next year’s early planting season.

I feel like this soil works best for people with a green thumb. I’ve tried it before and it did nothing for my indoor plants. The outdoor ones did okay but I couldn’t get the plants I really wanted to grow to grow in it. It’s great soil nonetheless, just not for this beginner.

Negative Reviews Seem Wrong
As another reviewer stated, I am not understanding all the negative reviews. People are complaining about sticks and wood, when they seem not to understand that a starting mix is NOT the same thing as dirt. Starting mix is lighter and less compacted to allow more breathing room. Also, complaints about mold and unknown growth might be due to pots that were not cleaned and sterilized with a bleach-water spray before potting, or particular bags of the mix might, in fact, have been infested, but I think the company might replace that, if you just reach out to them. I did a previous review, but I'm doing another one to counteract the negativity. And I'm including a picture this time.

No Complaints Seedlings Look Good So Far
I am one month into seed starting with this mix, and I have tomato seedlings 5 inches or more tall. I planted three seeds per pot, in six four-inch pots, and thinned to the best looking seedling for each pot, for a total of six plants that I will eventually transplant outside. After sprouting and true leaves began developing with minimal light, I placed under grow lights for twelve to fourteen hours a day. I replanted once during this time, in the same pots, to gain greater depth of root growth. I assume that I can leave the plants in this mixture until time to transplant outside. I gave only four stars, because I've never used this or any other seed starting mix before, so I'm allowing for the possibility of failure or for another product to be better. As my title says,"No Complaints". The product seems to work very well for me.

Works if you know what you're doing
It's a seed starting mix. You dump it into a large container, and slowly pour boiling water over and mix, until it has absorbed water. Then you fill your trays. All these negative reviews because ignorant people don't know what they are doing. Been using miracle grow seed start on and off for years, availability where at live, and making my own(10+)and yes you do have to sort through and remove large sticks etc, but that is true for all seed starting mixes. 4 stars because ingredient label is hard to find.

So far so good until now
I started my vegetable plants (variety of tomatoes & sweet peppers) in Jiffy Peat Pellets and then transferred them to 4" pots, using this mix, after a few weeks. Initially I overwatered them and mold was growing on the outside of the containers. I corrected that problem and they seemed to be doing ok for the last couple weeks...until the last few days. It seems like when the leaves touch the wet soil, they burn and then the plant dies. If I look it up online it says it's over fertilized or that there's too much salt in the mix. I usually garden organically but this year I wanted to try and have bigger plants than usual at this time. Though my plants are beautiful, they are no bigger than usual. I probably wouldn't buy this again.

I sowed seeds in the seed starting mix two weeks ago. So far about 50% germinate, different vegetable .
Will I need to move to Miracle Potting Mix before I put in garden?

Don't know what is growing out of the soil.
I only put seeds in one row but a lot of things are growing that I didn't plant. Hope my super rare seeds do come up. Until then I'll see what this other stuff is

Works ok. Not a sterile mix.
I bought two bags a month ago and used one bag to start veggie seeds. The seeds are sprouting just fine but, as this is not a sterile mix, there is some mold and fungus growing in the soil too. I just remove this as I see it.
However, when I opened the second bag the soil in the bag (that I just bought a few weeks ago) had a lot of visible white and yellow mold growing on the surface. I'll try to remove this mold before using (and maybe try to sterilize it) but it's really frustrating to see that when I first open the bag!

Rocks in my potting soil?!
I have used this seed starting mix for years and usually it is great. This year, as I was transferring my hydroponically started seeds to their own pots I found a number of ROCKS in the mix! It’s a newly opened bag, so I know it wasn’t my 4 year old “helping” this time. I’ve never encountered something like this with the seed starting mix; I’ve come across 2-3” chunks of wood in regular miracle grow potting soil, of course, but I thought this was more finely screened? Idk. Still pretty good stuff. Wish they’d move to something more eco friendly like coir, though.

Not the best, not the worst cont.
I forgot to write in my first review that the last 2 bags I purchased had gnats in them. But again, I simply baked the soil in the oven, or in the microwave (till you reach 180 degrees) and then allow to dry overnight and all is well. I have also mixed this stuff with regular dirt from my garden for better drainage. It worked really well that way too!
