DESCRIPTION
Your plants need the right ingredients for a beautiful beginning. Help them start strong with Miracle-Gro® Seed Starting Potting Mix. This mix is enriched with Miracle-Gro® Plant Food and is specially formulated for fast root development. It is excellent when starting from seed or starting plants with leaf, stem or root cuttings. Use it in containers, and get your plants growing faster with Miracle-Gro®.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
For Seed Starting
- Select a shallow container with a drain hole.
- Fill container.
- Plant seeds according to package directions.
- Water; let drain.
- Keep moist and out of direct sunlight.
For Establishing Cuttings
- Fill container with Miracle-Gro® Seed Starting Potting Mix.
- Water thoroughly.
- Make holes with a pencil.
- Insert cuttings, pressing mix around stems.
- Keep moist and out of direct sunlight.
- For spectacular results when transplanting, remember to use Miracle-Gro Quick Start Plant Food.

Excellent Start for Healthy Seedlings!
I've used a lot of different seed starting mixes over the years, but Miracle-Gro's Seed Starting Potting Mix really stands out. The texture is light and fluffy, which makes it super easy for seeds to germinate and roots to grow without resistance. I noticed faster sprouting and stronger seedlings compared to other brands.
What I love most is that it holds moisture well without becoming soggy, so I don’t have to constantly worry about over- or under-watering. Plus, since it's enriched with nutrients, I don’t need to fertilize right away—the mix gives the plants a healthy start right out of the gate.
I’ve used it with herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and even flowers, and everything has thrived. No pests, no mold issues, just great results. Highly recommend this if you're starting seeds indoors or in a greenhouse. It’s become a staple in my gardening supplies!

Great lightweight soil
The bag of soil was surprisingly light when I picked it up which was indicative of the density. It seems like this would be good to allow the seeds to gain some traction in order to get your seeds started.

Reliable Fertile Base Every Time
I grow Shelby Oat Grass to aid my cats’ digestion. In order to keep the grass fresh and edible, I plant seeds weekly in pots. I use Scott’s Seed Starting Potting Mix for a reliable base & it does a great job every time.

Perfect for a small stand up garden
This Miracle Gro Seed Starter Potting Mix for perfect for my stand up garden. I am not much of a gardener but love to grow simple plants. This Potting Mix helped my little garden to grow and flourish. I love it was a small bag to lift.

Repotting with my aunt
My aunt and I love to get together and work in the yard and we've been doing so since I was a little girl and we repotted so many beautiful plants from inside of the house with this soil it's so soft it has no overwhelming smell the water and The Roots took to it instantly I love Miracle-Gro products they just make any type of gardening or botany enjoyable

Couldn't be happier with it for starting seeds.
"I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion" I used this potting mix to start Cosmos seedlings. I am happy that the mix is very clean, comfortable for me handling it with bare hands. Its embedded fertilizer works as advertised, the seeds grew steadily indoor under LED grow-light bulbs . Here in the High Desert of California are Jan/Feb 2025, it is still a little cooler in the AM. Compared to other products, this mix compacts itself more and more with each watering. And in my opinion it does not drain well after while. Just need to keep the phenomenon in mind when you plan your seedling work, (not insurmountable). In summary, can't be happier with it for starting seeds.

A good start
Used this to start basil that I purchased at the grocery store and it really kept it going. I also did spider plant and pothos starts in it and they went like gang busters! I would use this in my spring seed trays.
