So, what is peat? Peat is a common ingredient found in soil products, creating a lightweight texture that holds onto water. In addition to providing an ideal soil consistency to support successful plant growth, peat has important environmental benefits, including trapping carbon and supporting wildlife. We focus on sourcing peat responsibly and are proud to share that many of our peat moss production sites in Canada are certified Veriflora® Responsibly Managed Peatlands, which seek to ensure that eligible companies apply measures to preserve and restore these vital ecosystems while minimizing the environmental impact.

We recognize that some individuals may prefer a peat-free formulation and that is why we developed Miracle-Gro® Organic Raised Bed & Garden Soil. This innovative formulation utilizes wood fiber and compost instead of peat, working in harmony to create a lightweight, organic blend that provides exceptional aeration and drainage.
