Learn How to Start Seeds with a Lemon Rind
Here is a fun seed starting project using a hollowed out lemon rind.
Step 1: Cut off the top third of the lemon, and remove the juice and all of the pulp. Carefully scrape down to the white pith. Use the juice and pulp to make a quick lemon shake up (recipe below.)
Step 2: Poke a small hole in the bottom for drainage and fill with good quality seed starting mix.
Step 3: Plant 1 to 3 seeds as directed on your seed packet.
Step 4: Water well without dislodging the seeds, and place in a window sill or under a grow light until they sprout.
Step 5: A few weeks after they sprout you can transplant the entire thing into a garden or container. The plant will grow, and the lemon rind will eventually break down into the soil naturally.
So, when life gives you lemons... make a lemon rind seed starter.
