Making a Fraser Fir and Holly Wreath

Learn how to DIY a beautiful Christmas wreath with Martha Stewart.

A few embellishments can easily elevate a store-bought wreath into a custom creation. To carry on the cheerful tradition of holly-bedecked halls, add berry accents to a circle of your favorite wreath.

TOOLS AND MATERIALS

  • 22-inch-diameter silver fir wreath
  • Large holly branches
  • Floral shears
  • Wired floral picks
  • Scissors
  • 2 yards of 6-inch-wide
  • red satin ribbon
  • U pins

  1. Trim holly branches with shears to make twelve 4-inch berry sprigs. Align each sprig stem with 1 floral pick and wrap with wire to secure (above).
  2. Starting at the bottom just off center of the wreath, insert sprigs, continuing about ¾ of the way up each side.
  3. Wrap a 1-foot ribbon length around the bottom of the wreath. Secure at the back with U pins.
  4. Tie remaining ribbon length into a large bow. Attach to the wreath with pins, inserting beneath the bow to hide. Trim bow tails to desired length. To create scalloped edges, fold ends accordion-style into fourths and round ends with scissors.
